Wont load up my samples! Halp!

Whats good yall? Been using my ren for over a year now and have two major issues right now. (well only one is major)

The beats I been working on the past week or so wont load the samples up. The program is there but all the samples and chops are gone! wtf? any beats saved before two weeks ago load up no problem so im confused.
sorry if this has been discussed here but I couldn't find it.

Also, the sample input starts to make crackle sounds after a minute or so of listening to records. Shhts annoying.

Im still rocking 10.6 on my mac so I haven't been able to upgrade to the latest ren upgrade.

You might wanna search your hard drive for the samples if you didn't do that already. I back all my files and songs on an external drive, that's dedicated to the REN and my studio.

that is a good idea but I still need to figure out why this machine is doing this. I've owned many mpc's and never had this problem.

Have you tried creating a new project and loading the programs and sequences in there? Save it again after doing so and you should be OK.

yeah i tried that. they wont load. all the samples just have a question mark in
front of them but no sound.

I think its only happening with samples direct from vinyl. The stuff I load in from the cpu dosent have this issue.

Has anyone else had this happen to them before???

Have you looked for them in your project folder? Are they still there, and if yes, do they play in other apps?

Make sure that MPC Software/Preferences/Other/Sampling Bit Depth is set to either 16 or 24, and that it is not blank.

What software version? There was a bug reported about recorded samples disappearing from the samples folder mysteriously.

There was an update, or something, that set the Sampling Bit Depth setting to go blank, instead of being a valid 16 or 24, and that caused this behavior, I think.
