MPC REN SYNC ISSUES WITH LOGIC AND PRO TOOLS

I want to use my MPC Ren in standalone mode and synch to pro tools or logic when needed to record live vocals, guitars or remix a PT/Logic session. I need the flexibility of being able to program on the MPC while synched to a pro tools/logic session WITHOUT using MPC as a plugin. (Too much latency trying to Seq in MPC when used as a plugin) I set up IAC Bus and it synchs but it is not accurate and does not Use MMC correctly. Always have to start from beginning to keep i somewhat in synch and that is not stable as it lags or falls off. Anyone have a synch solution for the MPC to SYNC tight to Pro Tools or logic without using as a plugin?

The latency while running as a plugin in logicX makes it unusable. I don't remember it being this bad when I got it.

Sync with MTC via physical midi cable between your interfaces midi out and the MPC's midi in. You want to use frame rate of 30 non-drop and use at least 1 full bar of pre-roll to let the two sync up.

I was told to send a midi event (either via the logic ascii keyboard or external keyboard) to the MPC. There's a strange thing with logic, that it assumes the plugin is offline or As soon as you trigger something from within logic, the latency returns to normal. It's apparently a logic issue.

I tried everything now... differend MIDI interfaces, IAC Bus... I can't get MPC standalone (studio) to sync properly with Logic to save my life. There's always a painful delay rendering it absolutely unusable. Any help at all?

This is really driving me insane... what am I doing wrong?! I'm transmitting and receiving MTC as described here but the tempo doesn't arrive. There's *some* communication: If I press play in Logic, the MPC software plays - but in its own tempo. For instance, if I change the tempo in my sequence in the MPC software, it'll play at THAT tempo rather than receiving the tempo from Logic. I've spent days on trying to set this up now and I'm close to giving up completely.

I use the Plugin in Logic X with no latency issues. The only thing I can think of that does cause latency when using as a plugin is when the track that the MPC plug is on isn't armed for recording. If the "R" button is not red, there will be some latency between when the pad is hit and the sound plays. But for me it syncs fine when I press play in Logic. I've never tried to sync standalone.

MIDI Time Code (MTC) syncs using a time position, it does not transmit any tempo information.

You have to set the tempo the same on the two devices, at the same time locations, if you want tempos to match using MTC.


MIDI Beat Clock (MIDI Clock) transmits and syncs to tempo information, rather than a time position, so might be more what you are after?

Cheers... I've given up and am now using the Plug-In. It's a shame because we share projects with 3-4 people and I'm the only one working on MPC tracks in those songs so now they all have to close a useless "Plug-In not available" error message each time and I'd much rather be working in the standalone app but two entire days trying to get it synced properly is more than enough time wasted.
