Somedays I just want to listen to records and save samples for later. Without saving an entire project is their a a quicker way of saving individual samples or saving in bulk. I can save each one individually which would be okay if I did not have to navigate to the desired folder every time, making this whole process very tedious. Maybe I am missing something very simple. Anybody???

Chop the sample in another program and save it as a .wav file then upload it when you want to

ive done did this a few times.

i just load up a bunch of shit i wana sample from. then chop up what i want. and delete the rest and when im done i just save the project and it saves all the chops in mpc and it will be in your mpc folder with all the chops saved as mp3.

i think making a project is the best way to do this, just make sure you name your recordings as you make them, and all your chops get stored as a program in the project folder that you can load into any other project down the line.

i did this a while back, threw a few records on and just recorded them, then chopped a bunch up, and i've made a few tracks from chops i did, and have more programs and more raw recordings waiting in the project for me to chop up next time i get the itch.

You are.
You are missing how simply and easy it would be to save them in a Project with the date or somewhat descriptive name.

Pretty much a bulk sample save no matter how you look at it.

Maybe I work a bit different/old-school/weird but I will just use "SAVE" and then "A SAMPLE" (or close to) and I can blast 'em all into a folder without having to select what folder every time. I'm naming them as I go and saving takes no time at all.

And yeah - it's been suggested that you can make a new project folder and save your samples from a session all together. Works too.

I like to name my samples according to the name of the song I sampled and then save them in folders titled by the Artists name. Thats why I wanted to avoid saving a new project every time but I guess I could label projects by artist name and return to it when I put on one of their records. Problem solved.

Still maybe it's a better topic for the next OS. The ability to shift + click to select and save a bunch of samples all at once.

When I chop within my MPC software, I rename the chops as the name of the artist and song then save project in similar way. If I sample Temptations - Rolling Stone, chops may be named - rollingstone1, rollingstone2, rollingstone3 or rollingstonekick, rollingstonebass, etc... Those chops may be part of a program called Temptations. Now when I save the project I can call it temptations-rolling stone. The project folder will have that name and within that folder will be rollingstone1.wav or rollingstonebass.wav, etc...

Gives me what you are after except I do not have 1 Temptations folder with chops from 10 different songs under it... U can achieve that but sampling multiple Temptations songs, saving chops as song names, and saving the project as just Temptations.

Any time you want to sample another Temptations song, you load the temptations project, create new chops of the new song using that name, re-save temptations project.

I do the same thing you are talking about in a directory outside of my songs/beats, where I have a directory of every artist and in each artist directory I have samples and/or chops labeled by song name. It is from that directory that I pull from to drag into MPC software

Well I guess the real difference I only sample with intent to use so the only samples that get saved are being used in a song.
Same is true about drums.

So if I set down with a as mentioned a Temptations album I would only sample something that I was trying to use.
Over the years that build a sample library method has never worked, it just creates a large library of stuff I never get around to using.

Guess that's the reason I have a million pieces of vinyl and CDs. :Sigh:

Music is always playing somewhere in my environment, if I hear something to sample I stop go grab the vinyl and sample it, try some ideas out to see what it's really about.

@ralphyartis', you could always just get a portable USB drive plug it and save the samples to a project in a folder named after the artist and Lp (or song).

Then go back whenever and load just the samples into a new or existing project without having to open that particular project.
The real key is that window that pops up right after you first sample.
Make sure you give the base sample a proper name.
That will govern any chopping or saving you do of that particular sample.

i'm trying to save individual samples myself.

when i had the 2500, i kept all my kicks, hihats, snares and percussions in different folders. so is there no way you can do this with the ren?

This is a great solution. I am curious if there is method to multiple select these and also have the software remember the save locstion.?
