LOL I guess he's talking about the guys that put on their AKAI Cape and fly in to try to save the day for the Ren when it falls under criticism. Like that Jahrome cat.
I love my Ren though. I can make beats all day on that thang:
it's not really a big deal, inmusic have been bundling software and air instruments with akai controllers for a while. this looks like an extension of that while also trying to offer an alternative to that komplete hard drive that NI do. bundles are getting more and more popular, wouldn't be surprised to see this product used as a crossbuy option with a new mpk or studio/ren ii, again NI did that with the maschine and komplete and have seen a lot of success.
this pack doesn't really look good for me, but then i have no idea if the air instruments are decent, and there's a lot of drum hits and bread and butter sounds included as well so it would be pretty good for people new to producing music, or for people who don't mind a biggish outlay cost if it saves them the time of looking for sounds and instruments and/or represents good value

I agree that something like this being packaged with the ren/studio would have been better. I'm really enjoying hybrid, if they had just bundled that with the ren from the start it would have been better than the expansion stuff the ren came with. I don't know if people find uses for this stuff but the bank, 809, the noise, the whatever are basically useless to me. The only content I ever use that came with the ren is very occasionally some kits from the legacy mpc stuff... and now hybrid.

I covered AKsys v1.7 in SOS November 2001 (see http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Nov01/a ... iaksys.asp), and also briefly covered its v2.1 incarnation in the Z8 review. Now we're up to v2.3 (or v2.36 for Mac users)
In a nutshell, AKsys enables you to hook up your Akai sampler (be it a Z8, Z4, S5000, S6000 or MPC4000) to a USB-equipped PC or Mac via the USB slave port on the MPC's back panel to give you remote control of file management, plus the ability to drag and drop samples to edit and create Multis and Programs. You can also use AKsys to turn your computer into a hub for up to 32 samplers, enabling you to transfer data back and forth between them and/or the computer and generally manage your files with all the benefits of a 'big-screen' user interface.

The only AIR instrument I own is the Transfuser Software which I use with ProTools. Transfuser has its potentials and I made a few track with it. Actually I try to incorporate transfuser in everything I make. I'm not a fan of some of the other Air Instruments. I guess you gotta grown on them if you have them.
This would of been a good starter bundle for the MPC REN and Studio.
This should be giving as a token of gratitude for all the MPC REN / Studio users from launch day. I know they know who we are because we had to register the software when we purchased the equipment.

Wow I was quoted on something from a long time ago. Oh well. Hey Transfuser is a nice VST. Transfuers should of been standalone too. This will be great if they include 2.0 cause I only purchased it until 1.3 on PT 8.x. I never evolved to PT 9, 10 or 11. PT 8 works fine for me. I only use PT to record everything after its done, but that Transfuser can put some nice finishing touches on a track. Very powerful plugin indeed.
