Creating multiple tracks?

Hi. I just purchased the MPC studio and I am figuring it out slowly but the issue I am having is this... After I record a beat (Using pad bank A) and then record the next track (pad bank B) using the overdub function and selecting track 2 as the manual says to do, the new samples I play delete the previous ones. This is a ridiculous question I am sure. It is really frustrating though and this manual explains very little. The website is no help either. What simple detail am I overlooking? Thanks

Also, I thought I could continuously layer track over track just pressing records once and without selecting a new track every time. Isn't that the point, the workflow?

a new track or new sequence?

go to program edit and make sure that it is set to "poly" and not mono. poly allows more then 1 sound to play at a time and mono will cut off the sound of 1 pad as soon as another is pressed.
also go to Lfo mod and make sure pad is set to poly as well

what i usually do is create a program for every set of sample i will use

program 1 will have my chopped samples

and then i make a new program that has all my drums

and so on and so forth

then i record each program on its own separate track.

ive learned a lot here so im just tryign to pass it on

^%$! It is still doing the same thing. I have it set to poly in program edit.
1)I slice it into regions
2) I select sliced samples and I check crop samples, create new program and create events and then click "Do it".
3) I go back to the Main edit window.
4) Then I have a stepped pattern of the samples that I delete and that's annoying.
5)Then I hit Record and all seems fine
6)Then as soon as it overdubs it deletes what I previously played and that's that
My next step is hurling it out the window so please save this MPC's life.

going over your shit when its in over dub mode?

The first time u record something and the loop starts again it goes to overdub - does it replace the events then or after u stop it and then start recording for the second time , the second time u record do you press rec or overdub to start rec

I think the problem in point 4 is that u selected create new prog and create events , try create new prog

yea..do not click "create events"

and make sure you click over dub...

O.K.. Thanks. It doesn't delete it entirely. I can still see what I played. It's just that only one sound will play at a time. Wherever they overlap only the last sound I recorded will play so I can't layer anything. It wasn't like that yesterday. It was working fine after I put it in poly mode. Now it's just stuck on stupid.

Once the loop starts again and I start playing something I can no longer hear what I previously recorded in the sections where they overlap though I can still see it. This happens as I play. It sounds like a train wreck. It basically cuts off the previously recorded samples. It just cuts the audio out.

I use overdub the second time or I just keep playing and it selects it itself.

yea use over dub and soon as the sequence is done it automatically goes into o dub.
shouldnt be deleting ure other shit

Pad bank a ,if u pick a drum kit has 16 sounds on the pads if u go to pad bank b ,u can add more samples to that kit and u can go to c, d, e , etc
When u create a new track how do u create that , on that new track u assign a programme is it the same programme as track 1

where are you from?

also yes if you go to a new track you can use the same program but make sure its all set to poly and not mono. other wise the sounds in pad bank b will mute the sounds on pad bank a.

although i recomend just making a new program and putting the drum sounds there.

He's already said he's set it to poly
