guitar/bass pedal effects on renski?

since no one is answering my noob thread questions i guess ill make a new one..which is what i dont want to do..thats why i have my noob thread question!

if i hook up a guitar/bass can i use some type of vst or something that simulates the noise from a pedal? or do i have to hook up the guitar to the pedal then that output to mpc ren?

You can use a VST afterwards to add the effect, but I don't think you can record with those effects unless you're using an UAD Apollo that records real-time. So if you want it on there while recording I think you'll have to hook it up to the pedal and then record.

Hey pituchez one thing with recording directly into the ren with a guitar or bass is that you get a really weak dry signal because there is no amplifier. If you have an amplifier that has a line out or a headphone output it's better to plug your guitar into the amp, then use one of those outputs from the amp. Without doing that you are going to have to get a software amplifier emulator vst plugin, but IMO even the cheapest amp you can get would be better than one of those

guitar rig is very commonly used by people working with a guitar and a computer. pedals just perform fx, there are plenty of free vsts that do the same fx as pedals, some of which are modelled after real life pedals eg. http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2012/11 ... in-by-tse/

I use this on alot of different things as well(like running synths through it and drums to grunge it up)

These are in my opinion more fun and less finiky to get a guitar sound.. Now with direct record especially, it's just so much faster to quickly lay something down..
These pedals are basically what guitar rig does(not just distortions or multi effect pedals but amp simulation as well) HAving the small control pedal can work as wah or what ever you want to assign it too..

Line 6 have the pod stuff...

Fender has the mustang pedal...

Just go to a local dealer and try em out..

A super cheap version of that ^ would be some distortion pedals like the akai one i have : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie ... ects-pedal have a 'dir rec' output, which gives you a full line level signal out from the distortion pedal, basically a cheap amplifier circuit.

i record all my guitar through my yamaha thr-10 amp, it's a **** beast of an amp with great modelling and it's an audio interface like the tonelab pedals... i recommend it to any guitarist as it's perfect for bedroom practice at low volumes, amazing for laying down tracks as you can monitor directly through the amp and simultaneously record the amp modelled sound and a dry signal line if you want to reamp the recording later with tweaked settings... they also make good reference monitors...

yea..i guess i will have to by one of those crazy pedals that got mad options on em..my bro plays guitar so i just have him record shit i want and make songs ;p

sucks that i cant do anything in the software..but this is better in a way also

but i want that fuzz sound . sounds kind of moogish but more..sounds so sick ;p
