MPC Renaissance Output issues

Whats up people. I just got the MPC Ren and it's been a bastard getting set up but I only have 3 more issues to sort out. The equipment I use consists of an E Mu MP 7, Roland FA-06, MPC1000, Boss DR670, and now the MPC Ren. These are the tools for creating the actual music. It is all routed into an Octa-Capture 8 and recorded into Sonar. Each piece I have is routed from its main outs into the Octa-Capture. The MPC Ren out - Octa 1-2 in, MP 7 out - Octa 3-4 in, FA-06 out - Octa 5-6 in, MPC1000 out - Octa 7-8 in. The DR670 is not used much so I alternate it with a piece that's not used when I need it.

Issue 1: When I open the MPC Ren software and set up to start, I can see the signals being received in the Oct-Capture from my other pieces however there is no sound coming from the main Octa output. I don't know why, but it just goes away. A way I found to fix it is to go to preferences (I don't remember off hand which sub category but it involves ins & outs) and change the first box that says Driver and I change to Wave 1-2. Then I get sound back. My question is, How do I save this setting so I don't have to do this everytime I start up?

Issue 2: Inputs 3-8 monitor fine however, the MPC Ren is going into Octa 1-2 and there is no signal being received however, it can be heard from the main Octa out.
How would I set that up to only be monitored through the Octa 1-2 Inputs?

Issue 3: After setting up the MPC Ren, when I go to sonar and route which pieces will record onto what tracks, inputs 1-2 for my Octa-Capture do not list as an option. In other words, the track says pick an input to record and 1-2 aren't an option. How do I get my inputs back?

Overall, it is a fairly basic set up and I just want to monitor my MPC Ren through inputs 1-2 on my Octa-Capture and no where else. Howver each time I change something, It presents another problem. Once this is all configured I will be good to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys.

Not really though. It's fairly simple. I just need to route my MPC outputs to my Octa-Capture Channels and monitor from there. In theory the way I have it set up should work that way, but nope. Idk.

I would set it up like this....


open up mpc ren.... make sure in pref, the driver is set to asio, and that the device is the mpc ren...

then open sonar.. MAke sure it is asio and that the device is octa capture....

Now it maybe that asio, can only operate one device at a time.. And thats why you cant have two asio devices happening at once... also check to make sure that the direct monitoring control/knob is set to the middle or 12 oclock, so you get a blend of mpc playback and input monitoring(if you have any device plugged into the mpc ren's inputs)
And also make sure the octa isn't losing it's dsp control over sonar.. If so then you have to enable the direct monitoring via sonar for channels/input 1 and 2 of the octa....

Nice. Im gonna try that. What your saying makes sense. It's all new to me. I've been makin beats and rhyming for close to 20 yrs and I NEVER used software to make beats. Nothing against it at all. Just never really took that route. Always used hardware. Recording vocals and mastering I've used software, but never for beats. So far it seems a lot easier to save what you work on and the multiple midi outs on my MPC 1000 and Ren allow me to control everything from one spot. Now with the computer involved, I've had to straighten out latency issues, and things of that nature. So far i'm picking things up and this definitely helps. Thanks for the tips. By the way, how do you get your soundcloud stream on the bottom of your posts? It would be cool to post my music and get some feedback. Thanks Again.

Finally had time to mess around with it and yes some of the issues you mentioned were happening. I fixed and changed a few things now it works great. I just have to set it up so everytime I open a new project in the Ren software, the settings are set the way I need them to be set. I always had my setups saved on the Octa-Capture and Sonar. Now I have to figure it out on the Ren. Thanks for the help.
