MIDI Tracks and Logic....

I have a studio, it's got 1.7.1 installed. Mac, Mavericks, and Logic Pro X.

I have a track I built in the MPC software that uses an external MIDI module. Works great in MPC. When I load this project in to logic as a plugin, the MIDI is lost, so that external instrument never plays. All the other tracks are fine - Samples, plugins, etc. Just the MIDI track is AWOL. I could re-track it, I guess, but there's a lot of control changes I'm doing on the resonance and cutoff.

I've taken a bunch of stabs at this, and it just looks like the "DAW 1-4" outputs are doing nothing.

Has anybody else had this problem, or have I gotten my self lost in the edge cases?

I have had this problem, MIDI support in the MPC Software plugin is shit!

You lose all access to external MIDI ports.

There is only a single internal 'DAW' MIDI port.

It doesn't seem to send MIDI into Logic, but you can get that single 'DAW' MIDI port into a MIDI track in Pro Tools, and then route it out of the Pro Tools MIDI track to an external MIDI port.

Not sure if there is any way to do the same in Logic, but it doesn't seem like there is.

I wish they would fix it, it needs to have four external MIDI outputs from the MPC Software plugin, just like there is from the standalone MPC Software.

Hah -- I tried what you said, and I was able to record the midi tracks. Weird thing is that they get recorded in, and after recording, work going back out, but I can't play the midi real-time from the MPC software.

Is that in Logic, onto a Logic MIDI track?

Nope -- Pro Tools. I can't get any signs of MIDI life in Logic.

Should be able to get MIDI from the plugin, through a Pro Tools MIDI track, to an external MIDI device.

Are you record enabling the Pro Tools MIDI track?

Will have play with it later, and see if I can work out where you are going wrong.

Yeah, it sucks, because Logic handles the multiple output channel option of theplugin, while Pro Tools seems to only treat it as a single stereo track. As far as I can tell. Thanks for the tip.

If you create a Pro Tools MIDI track, set the input of that MIDI track to the MPC, set the output of that track to the external MIDI port that is connected to the external MIDI module, and record enable that MIDI track, does it not send MIDI from the MPC pads through to the external MIDI module?

Have not seen it work in Logic, guess it is differences in the way the Pro Tools RTAS/AAX plugin is coded, vs the Logic AU plugin, or differences in available MIDI capabilities between Pro Tools RTAS/AAX and Logic AU plugin formats.
