renaissance as an interface question

I just purchased the renaissance, and I am rebuilding a small home studio setup.

When i buy a pair of studio monitors, can I plug them into the outputs on the renaissance? and will my renaissance act like a sound card for my pc?

basically will I need to purchase a seperate audio interface to plug my monitors into?

and if so, how would that work in relation to the renaissance?

It would probably be better to ask after i actually get the mpc here, but i want to order everything i need as soon as possible.

Just wondering if i should get something like the EIE as well, and then wondering how it will all work. the mpc has to go into the pc correct? and then i would be using the audio interface of something else to monitor with?

my previous setup was just an mpd, controlling software, and i used an interface to monitor everything and as a soundcard.

i'm just wondering if the audio "interface" of the ren will work as a soundcard for my pc, sending sounds from everything to monitors, that would be plugged into it, if thats even possible

Yes it will operate as an audio interface, it doesn't have XLR outputs (only 1/4 inch) so you will need to buy a cable for your monitors that has 1/4 inch on one side (for the Ren) and then XLR on the other side so that you can plug them into your monitors (unless your monitors uses 1/4 inch also).

The Renaissance audio hardware is a similar USB audio interface to an EIE, so there is probably no point buying and EIE as well, and in any case, an EIE is probably not the best choice of audio interface.

one more question, if i have it set up like this, will all sounds play through my monitors? or only what im working on in the MPC?

like, if i'm not making a beat, will the mpc act as a soundcard playing system sounds from my pc?

Yes it will play other pc sounds too. You dnt need another sound card..

what monitors do are you planning on getting?

i have krk 5's . they are pretty damned loud for being small ;p.

another question

i have the mpc now, and i have it all hooked up, when listening to stuff on my computer outside of the program itself, it plays choppy, and is at a higher pitch, like playing a 33 record at 45rpm.

any thoughts on this? im still waiting on my new pc, this one runs XP so maybe that has something to do with it, and maybe i need to update the drivers/software?

As stated in the system requirements you need to be running Windows 7 or above.

Go for the HS8 They are the awesome.
I had the krks and am very pleased that I change them for the yamahas.
The krk sounded right, but the yamahas are more flat and have a more defined bass.
I suggest the 8" ones because that way you will have plenty of bass without needing a subwoofer. Although you can use a sub with them...
