New Q-Link Assign question 1.7.2

I'm trying out the new drag and drop Q-Link assign. I assigned a snare (1 pad) to multiple Q-Links. Q-Link1 was tune and Q-Link2 was pan. I recorded automation for Q-Link2 but when it played back both Q-Link1 and Q-Link2 performed the same data. Is this by design? Seems like each Q-Link should be independent even if the same sound is assigned to multiple Q-Links.
