Hi all. MPC Newbie here, with a question which hopefully makes sense.

I have the Studio and am loving it. I am practising with sampling, sequencing, layering, song creation and all that good stuff, and can create decent (for a beginner) beats solely using the MPC software/hardware. I have an MPK and can utilise The Bank samples on the keyboard with no problem.

The problem comes when I want to layer some instruments into the sequences. I would like to use the Logic Pro X instruments for some of the stuff like basslines, orchestral elements, chords and whatnot. I would just stick with The Bank but it doesn't seem to have the breadth of software instrument I want and the naming convention and lack of categorisation makes finding the right sounds difficult.

I can load the MPC plugin into a software instrument within Logic Pro, and can play the loaded sequence (although the transport keys not working on the hardware is a bit irritating), but thats where I am stuck....

Is there a way of loading that plugin then loading up some software instruments which can be played along with the sequence, and somehow getting these back into the MPC so I can finish construction with song mode? Or is it a case of when you start using LPX, you effectively stop using the MPC for construction?

I can't get the whole MIDI/bus set-up right either, but am sure I will figure that out. I'm just wondering if what I want to do is simply impossible before I start....

Hope that makes sense :)

Don't like replying to my own post, but realised last night that clicking on the button next to the plugin selector brings up the 'Bank' window, where the sounds are indeed categorised, which may help me in my problem. I thought the long list of random instrument names was a bit odd!

Is there a thread or article somewhere on workflow when using a Ren/Studio with Logic Pro X as a DAW?

Thanks
