Major 1.8 feature! Project Preview!!A Daw First!

I believe this is the first time a daw ever allowed you to audition your project without loading it first. Mpc exclusive!!

cool feature idea... but wouldn't that wind up being the same as auditioning a folder of waves on daws? (since you have to actually proactively make the preview file first)

the preview isnt positioned as the first created wav.it's attached to the. Xpj file.u hear the song without ever going into the folder containing the samples.in fact when the browsers filter is active u don't even see the folder at all.just the.xpj file.thus just scold thru your project files to hear your beat.

Hopefully this week. The last time akai let testers release videos, the update came out the following week.

Am I missing something or is this just that you exported the project to .wav and therefore can audition it like any other sample?

Is it that 1.8 is now making it so you can audition it right after the export without digging for it?

Does not seem like a project preview as the thread suggest. Rather an export project to wav and preview the resulting sample.

Okay I watched again and get it now. Seems to be just as I suspected but it's a workflow thing. Seems like it stores it with the project so you can audition it while searching through projects without toggling over to samples and digging for it. It's associated with the project so you know what's what.

Now that I think about it that is a very useful feature.

Instead there is no wav you hear it when you click in the prj file in your mpc browser, I mean it's a wav embedded in a prj

Yeah this is pretty cool but it's not that mind-blowing really is it. It's just linking an audio file with the project. Just like when you audition samples.

In fact, for someone like me who bounces down their mixes to the same folder as the project file this won't really do much for me as I can just click the wav/mp3 mix down to audition that if I want to anyway. I'm just wondering if I did move the mix down from it's original location whether the project file would still preview it for me?

^^ This. It's useful, but you've been able to do this in DAWs for a long time. Bounce however many bars you want, done. Go through project folders, play the preview. Maybe you can't do this in Windows, but Macs allow you to play audio files from file browsers for years now. Akai is simply adding another DAW-like capability.

All of these theatrics and "game changer!!!" exclamations are to me. But heck, glad people are getting excited.

Question: Why allow the Project Preview length to be set during Audio Mixdown, i.e. 8 bars, if the MPC is only gonna play back a portion of that? Can we lengthen how long the actual preview will be when the software plays it back?
