MPC Ren in software mode, how to activate hardware controlle

I upgraded to V1.7 last night. The system seems to be running in software mode and the hardware is running as a sound card. When I drag a drum kit to the pads, the software pads work, but the hardware pads do not generate sound.

The Ren display is blank. The bottom four pads are (left to right) Red, Green, Green, Yellow.


In Sonar, the Ren works as an audio input output device. (as expected)

Any suggestions?

Since you are 1.7, have you ever updated the firmware in your Ren?

Update firmware.

had the same issue, was forced to use another computer to complete the firmware update....it was good before the update, now ren loses connection with the software constantly

Updating the firmware corrected the issue. I originally attempted to update the firmware via the MPC Ren code update process. This time, I downloaded the firmware from the AKAI support page and ran the software. It is clear that the original MPC Ren did not execute correctly.

Mark, I'm having the EXACT same problem you had...when you updated your firmware, did you update to version 1.10? I'm not having any luck getting something to pop on the mpc screen, it's continuously blank and blue!!

Ahhhh got it!! My Digi 003 had to be disconnected from the CPU and then the firmware had to be downloaded 2x and all kind of lights started flashing on the REN. If anyone else has this problem disconnect EVERYTHING from the computer!!
