I admit I am a noob to the mpc studio and mpc software, however in 1.8 when I go to sequence my beat in song mode, it wont let me sequence properly no matter if I do it from the hardware, inserting a bunch of steps and manually clicking the arrow to choose which sequence, dragging from the pads into the sequences box, etc... as soon as it gets down to step 16 or anything where I have to scroll down it automatically changes the first few steps.... or ill go to change 1, say step 20, and it will jump back to step 4, etc

I've attached a couple videos to show what I mean. I know I must be doing something wrong as they wouldnt have a bug this detrimental in a new update (I hope) - any help is appreciated

showing it jumping back up:

showing it changing steps once scrolled past:

yes. same here.
didnt watch the video, but by you description i can confirm the same problem here.

i have a song 88 bars, 15 sequences of 4 beats each
from bar 21 to 24 i have sequence 5, so 1 step entry in the sequences list
from bar 25 to 28 i have another sequence 5, another step entry in the sequences list.
I could have 1 repeated step only in the sequences list but i rather work like this.
last bar 85 is set to sequence 5 as well

a few hours ago if i tried to change any of the entries in bar 21 or 25 to sequence for, ie, sequence 4, the sequence in bar 85 would also change, wack ye?!
but to get things even more interesting, it wouldnt change to 4 but to 15.

I left the project and start working new one.
opened the project a few hours later, the described issue seems to be sorted, i can now exchange the sequences in referred bars without spontaneously affecting the the sequence in the 85th bar, but then i save the project, close and when reopen it just didn't save anything at all.

also the step sequence list is really messy working with the mouse, everything has to be done from the machine, what is perfectly fine, just dropping most info for helping debug.
with the mouse If i tried to change ie step 2. on which i had sequence 2, to sequence 10, it would jump to step 10 and would make the change there.

editing the sequences list from the machine works alright, but then issues above described

the problem is that for me even working from the machine itself, it still changes an earlier step to a diff sequence without me asking, say i have 16 steps, and it alternates between seq 1 and 2 all the way to 16, so i insert step 17 as sequence 1, if i scroll down it will have changed for instance step 4 to sequence when when i had it set to sequence 2... I installed an old version 1.5 and it didnt do this at all, so i know its a 1.8 issue

I have same problems, i try make beat finally in song-mode and export separate-tracks to logic-x. Song-mode just change my sequence itself, i tried to get it right for several hours.

Then i take separate-tracks export my every single loop-sequence in sequence section, and save their own folders. I put the tracks right then logic :vomit:

Same problem!
It has messed up the sequencing of several of my beats...

The fact that the sequences change when scrolling is new to 1.8 (no problem using 1.7.X). Nobody has an idea on how to bypass this problem?

The other bug was already there in the previous versions but the work around is to select the step number and instead of choosing your sequence from the list select it via the step area at the right of the pad...
Hope they will fix that soon...

more info on this issue

I just realized we cant have more than 15 steps in Song, from step 16 it starts cloning them

whatever you have in step 16 will be cloned to step 1, step 17 clones to 2, 18 to 3 and so on.

I may have found a workaround

ie
In Song select
song 1 and sequence intro
song 2 and sequence verse
song 3 and sequence chorus
song 4 and sequence outro

convert each song to new sequences

in song 5 sequence final song

I could finally try this and can state it works, I have managed to squence about 30 sequences in 8 songs, then convert the songs to sequences, and sequence a final song from the 8 sequences.

I've experienced similar issues in 1.7...I posted about it in the 1.7 bug reports thread last month.

When adding directly into the small window with the steps, It would get to a point where adding a new sequence step would jump me back up to the top and change one of the early sequences to the one I was trying to edit. It became almost unusable after a while. This only happened when using >12 steps.

What I did find with 1.7, was that adding directly into the scrolling sequence list gave me problems, but using the 'Insert Step' button instead didn't seem to, and so far the only song I have built in 1.8 using that method seemed to work okay.

To be honest, I think the whole 'song mode' interface could do with a complete re-design. Such an integral part of the workflow with such a clunky way of doing things...

same problem as all u guys, it occasionally happened in 1.7 but it would usually go away if I cleared the song and re added the sequences. This is just driving me nuts, i can't sequence out my song until this is fixed and I'm scared to open a project I did on 1.7 cause I'm afraid it could ruin my sequencing in those projects. considering all the things that the renaissance is capable of, this shouldn't be a problem.
