Question: Keyboard and Driver with Mac OSX

Guys,

Wanted to ask some of you here as you may be a bit more experienced. Currently I have my old keyboard for when I made music back in the day (The Edirol PCR M80), and currently its most recent set of drivers is for OSX 10.9. Would the keyboard still be able to work in 10.10.2 (the current OSX version), or would there need to be a driver for it? I only ask because im trying to save some $$$ for when the Akai Advance 61 is released and dont want to have to buy a keyboard inbetween that time.

Any input is welcomed..

for the standard midi cc's it should be fine. plug it brotha. best way to know.

with macs you generally don't need much for drivers. besides it has actual midi in out. I'm sure it works as a midi keyboard.

If that model is discontinued; usually they don't bother with driver updates.
Do you have the ability to test? This is the best indicator.

Im going to hit up Guitar Center and grab the USB cable for it, as well as the Midi Cables. Im missing the ACP Adaptor that initially came with it unfortunately however, maybe I can find an alternative. After reading the Akai MPC manual it says to hook up Midi KBs via USB, but as you mentioned this has midi in/out so im debating on using that as well.

i have a couple midi keyboards powered only by the usb. one is the big m-audio key station pro 88. came with power adapter don't really use it. ya just plug it in and I'm pretty sure you should see it in the pref.

You only need external power when using MIDI cables instead of USB, although I doubt the Edirol supports USB power.
