Are You Serious? Song Mode….

So all of my sequences have to suddenly be at the exact same tempo once they're in song mode?

WHAT????

I've owned pretty much every MPC ever and have never had a problem linking sequences of different tempos together into song mode. Now they all are switched to the same tempo once they're in a song?

What is going on here? HELP!!!!

I can't seem to find much info on this. Is this an isolated incident, bug, or is this a permanent change in the os?

That's unfortunate dude..I just got used to my workaround workflow from prior updates. I just build my whole beat in one sequence and edit and copy, mute in track view mode.

I respect your workflow and workaround strategy, but that is not the type of process we should have to go through in order to do something so simple! C'mon Akai!!!

I can insert different seq with diff tempos, or have them all the same tempos in song mode? And they all retain their tempos.

Are your sequences changing tempo when they are added into song mode?

Check it out-basic example. Say I have 10 4-bar sequences.

5 of them are 116 BPM.

The other 5 are 122 BPM.

Now I want to string them all together in Song Mode to make a song that has all of these sequences in it. From what I gather, this entire new song has to either be 122 BPM OR 116 BPM. It cannot alternate tempos within the song, as all other MPCs in history have been able to do.

It displays the different tempos of the sequences as you're putting them together in song mode, but once the song is created, it just goes to the default tempo of the first sequence and stays that way throughout the entire song. Example- if I put the 122 BPM sequence first, then the whole song will be 122. If 116 is first, then everything will be 116.

I'm thinking there has to be a way around this, but I've searched quite a bit and I've come up empty. This is a crucial feature, so if anyone can help, please please please do. Thanks!!!

Can confirm that funkycoldmedina is correct. Once you can convert different tempo'd sequences in song mode all tepo changes are gone and it stays at the tempo of your first sequence in song mode.

I've done a some tracks with tempo changes on jjos, but never with the ren(only time signature changes on the ren) which worked.

I just can't believe this. This makes this instrument as useless as native instruments maschine for me, simply unbelievable!

Someone posted the link to this thread in Akai's forum, so maybe we'll get some sort of answer on this over there. Totally unacceptable.

Can someone please explain Dan's explanation for me?…What would be the difference between Song Mode and Convert>Seq.?…Because for me, every song I'm making takes on the tempo of the first sequence within the song. And I don't know how to create a song any differently than going into song mode, making an ordered list of my sequences, then converting it into a song. But that always gives me a uniform BPM for the whole song, even if the sequences within the song are at different tempos...

Thanks for the post!

The Song Mode itself does accept tempo and time signature changes. When inserting sequence steps in Song Mode, each sequence's original tempo/time signature is brought in automatically. This is not happening for you?

Now if you use the CONVERT > SEQ function, then the tempo of the first sequence becomes the default. The tempo/time cannot be changed in the middle of a sequence.

prolly means, create a new sequence for any new tempo change.
