Hello guys/gals,

I got a fantom x with the mpc studio. I've used them independently but cant seem to set(sync) them up successfuly. Going through tutorials etc. i got it where it detects my fantom as my midi controller when i press the keys, but in type (midi track) it doesn't generate any sounds. I've tried different things with no success. That means i'm on the right track but missing something. The manuals as well show a midi interface, but the tutorials that i've seen don't. FYI i'm not doing audio.

i m Not sure if the studio has a midi interface so I m explaining. it the USB road. okay lets start. go to the canton. then connect the fantom via USB with your computer. install the midi drivers.then turn your fantom into the USB midi mode. turn local off on the fantom. turn your studio on go to preference choose the fantom on the midi in and the midi out part.
now you should be able to play a vst without hearing a sound from the fantom . if you wanna play an instrument from the fantom choose a midi track and choose the fantom as a out device .the fantom is also connected to you're audio interface ? you know the difference between midi and audio ?

Thanks for the reply. Ill try it out shortly. I'm familiar with the difference I just mentioned the interface cause it mentions it in the manual which I felt wasn't necessary, but just coloring in the lines. I I just knew an interface/mixer allows mic's etc. Thanks for the help.

OK looks like I'm making progress. So I set it up and got sound through my sound card. I can hear piano notes. Seems kinda weird since I was told use port1 under preferences but now I can't seem to generate anything else from the internal sound bank. When I change to drum(track) n pick a file don't hear anything. I think I figured the midi interface is if I'm using monitors cause now since the Roland isn't the source it generates no sound through my monitors so I guess ill have to purchase one. I'm having minor issues on the drivers installing but I'm sure I can figure that out. It did the same thing on my motif.
