MPC REN/STUDIO Midi out in DAW possible yet? june 2015

Is there anyway to trigger pads from the ren/studio to record them directly to a daw yet?

alai mentioned when i bought my REN it wasn't possible, this was a couple yrs ago.. any progress YET?

Do you mean to play and record a software instrument track in a DAW from the MPC? Yes, that's possible. Just use virtual MIDI out, e.g. IAC driver on a Mac or similar on a PC. At that point it's no different to using a legacy MPC.

No i don't mean that at all. Thanks for the reply. What I mean is triggering the pads and within my daw, I get the midi notes.. This was possible in ALL Mpc's before the REN. Now it's not.. Or is it? Yet?

Instead of keygroup/drum on your track select MIDI and route it to your DAW?

Seems simple enough. Maybe you need to explain more.

If you want to send MIDI notes from your MPC Software (standalone mode) to a DAW MIDI track (to record the MIDI notes to a MIDI track, trigger software instruments, trigger/record whatever MIDI), you just use a virtual MIDI output - it's then no different to using a legacy MPC, you can just assume it is a legacy MPC, you just use a virtual MIDI cable instead of a physical one.

No what he wants to do is use the Mpc software as a vst in a daw and instead of it recording the midi data in the Mpc software it's recorded in the daw but still triggers the Mpc , like maschine can .

Thanks aldred411 , Yes this is exactly what I want. Sorry if I wasn't making it clear enough. I rarely if ever use the Ren in standalone, I only use it in my DAW. There are times that instead of using the Mpcs sequencer, I'd like to use my daws, but i want to use my Mpc pads to trigger sounds from Ren. What I'm missing is, why is this still not available?
I sent this request in to Akai the day the Ren came out and I brought it home,connected it to my daw, and I sat clueless, wtf.. it's midi well here we are, years later and they don't see midi as a mandatory feature for daw work? it's laughable ,but not funny at all..

Maybe I'm missing something, I mean it's midi.. Can someone explain the workaround lol A simple fix, add midi out for DAW! Please

Can Controller Mode be used to achieve what you're looking for? Use the MPC in regular mode for modifying parameters and such, then flip to Controller Mode when you want to strictly record MIDI into your DAW?

Thinking about it, you're handicapped by the MIDI Input of the MPC, it only allows a single input onto the current track, no multitimbral mode like past versions. They've been slowly working in what would be expected in an MPC into the software. I'm sure they'll have it at some point.

Yeah it is absolutely unbelievable this has not been addressed...

There is a workaround but first let me make sure we're on the same page.

1. You want to load the MPC plugin in your DAW.

2. Chop up sounds to your pads or whatever.

3. Hit record on your DAW and hit pads and the data is recorded into your DAW sequencer, NOT the MPC sequencer

If so when you want to record go to the MIDI control mode and, in the browser, find the folder called 'Midi Control Scenes' (it's located in the Factory Content folder where the Elements of House and all that shit are) and select the one called "Classic MPC.mcn"

I do this with the MPC Essentials plugin so that I can use more than one instance at once, but it should work the same with the regular plugin.

I know, its a total pain in the ass. I seriously don't understand why this hasn't been fixed. I use mostly the stand alone MPC software now, so I'm not trippin as much but if I'm making a track with a ton of plugins or just a certain style I'll use FL Studio but use the MPC plug for all of my drums and chopping needs. FL Studio's piano roll sequencer is **** awesome and I really don't know why anyone would want to have midi recorded in the MPC software when its a plugin inside another sequencer. I guess the only reason I can think of is if someone needed the MPC swing settings and its "legendary" sequencer, but I just can't wrap my head around that workflow. And if it is what someone wants thats fine but they NEED a button on the main screen that says "Send Midi to DAW" or whatever. Also, would be nice if that also changes the transport buttons to control the DAW's play/stop/record.

Tbf maschine has only just been able to do this .

they might not include the ability for another daw's midi to play the software in plug-in mode because it would allow people to use generic controllers with the software. then less people would buy the studio/ren

on my Mpc4000 there's a feature where you just select a midi channel next to the program and this tells the daw or external sequencer which channel midi you'd like to dump midi information in your daw. Why the REN doesn't have this is beyond me..It's sad to think that Akai pro doesn't have the skills to offer such a simple feature. I'm done
