Mac/Ren Question

This may be more of a Mac question than a Ren issue, but it relates…

How do I copy sounds from my projects and drag them into iTunes without losing that sound file out of my project? For example, say I have 60 new drum samples I've recorded into my MPC project from vinyl. I want to have access to those sounds in iTunes as well (for working out of DAWs, giving the sounds to friends, etc), but whenever I drag sounds from that MPC project folder into iTunes, I lose that sound file from my project. I would like to keep the sound that I have as it is in the project, but be able to make another copy of the sound that now resides in iTunes. Does this make sense? How do I do this on a Mac? I've tried "Duplicate" or "Command D" and it seems to do something, but I don't know where the new duplicate file goes on my computer! I would like the duplicate to just go to my desktop if possible!

Just go add to library in iTunes and point it at the mpc folder or selected files ,hold shift and click on each file , ,I think

Or u could highlight selected files ,right click , copy and paste then into a folder in your iTunes library open iTunes and rescan .
Or select files right click open with , pick iTunes that will import them , it may change the file type depending on how u set your import , MP3 , wav etc

Drag the sounds from the mpc folder to the iTunes icon in your dock. This leaves the source files where they are and simultaneously imports the sounds into iTunes. You should not be losing the sounds in the mpc folder unless perhaps there's an option in iTunes that is set to remove source files, if so, unchecked it.
