Seen this on gear slutz! Not sure what to think of it but akai has been quiet on the MPC side so maybe a new joint is in the works Thoughts anyone??

I wonder can the testers give a yay or nay that they are still debugging 1.9 or has development shifted? Ready for the Ren MK 2 as long as crossfade loop and audio tracks are involved.

I got very little inside info from somebody i cant name. But it looks like a ren 2 or a new series of groove boxes will be released. Another thing is, akai isnt the only one to watch for as other companies are gonna release similar products (rumors of roland making a groovebox come back). Im starting to get excited but if akai dumps support for and leaves our ren mk1 in the dust and the 2.0 software only works with the new series than im selling my ren/studio and not supporting akai again. It would be too soon if thats the case but i could be wrong. Whoever releases a compact MPC 1000 like drum machine thats standalone and computer enabled will get my money but if akai releases a tablet screen mpc than im not interested

I hope Roland make some more Grooveboxes. I'm not sure if Akai will still support the Ren if they got a new product. Their track record suggests they'll abandon the Ren. But if they have a new hybrid running similar software, they could keep working on both and benefit from a broader market.

I very much doubt this would happen, my guess is that any future MPC controllers would run the same MPC Software, just as Maschine Mk 1 and Mk 2 run the same Maschine software. There will probably be different features available depending on which hardware controller you have connected.

the Akai hype train again?

Would love to see a Ren 2.0 that can run standalone and use VIP for VSTs, but with Akai hype train I wouldn't be surprised to see an "iconic, game-changing" Rhythm Wolf 2.0 and a Super Advanced keyboard controller.

Hopefully they'll give the Ren one more vital update including all obvious features (audio tracks!!! drop in midi!!! etc) we've need since it's arrival. It sucks that it took years for the Ren to get to the capable board it finally is today, when it could be light years ahead of the pack right now. I'm not sure if Akai is ready to bring out a new board yet. Hopefully I'm wrong but it would be great if they left this Ren one more serious update before moving on.

Plus I hope that the Ren will still be supported after a new one comes out. Hopefully they do not make the same mistakes other companies make all the time. I do not need a new device every year that in the end brings only small improvements. The Ren has become so much better with the last updates, it would be a shame to let it all go to waste.

Well no official announcement from Akai saying there will be an announcement. So we can only go off rumors. But I hope these rumors are true. An updated standalone MPC would be nice. Everything we are seeing seems to suggest that it will be especially seeing an early prototype. I just hope it's not another midi keyboard or flute!
