A feature request that will add 16 Q link functionality....

Currently when you're chopping samples you only have 4 Qlinks and you have to cycle through the 4 banks to access all 16 virtual Q links (which can be a bit slow), what I propose is that in a future update Akai adds a soft key modifier on the touchscreen in Trim/Chop modes that when selected/engaged it will change pads A1-A4 to Q link bank selectors (perhaps even change in color or flash). While the "Q link bank selector" button is engaged if you press A1 it will give you access to the 1st bank of Q link controls, press A2 pad and it will give you access to the 2nd bank of Q link controls, and so on. This will be much faster than using the Q link bank button currently and you won't have to press shift/Q link bank button to cycle in reverse. Hopefully I am being clear, and everybody chime with your thoughts on this idea.

4 q-links and my experience with the studio are the definitive no go for me with this new mpc. Jumping banks slows down my workflow and annoyes me. Althoug my work around is different and I stopped using the q-links for chopping and use the "f" keys zoom and the jogwheel when I use the studio. The q-links in my studio are of not use for me anymore , well almost.

Well wouldn't my proposed feature request make it a whole lot simpler? The way that I envision this new feature working would make Q-link chopping on the Touch much faster than the Ren because your fingers would not have to move off the 4 Q-links you would just tap pads A1-A4 while tweaking the Q-links.

I think your idea would be much faster than the studio is but not the ren as you don't have to go touching any pad as you got already 16 q-links mapped.
I think that in the touch the q-links only should be to manage parameters on virtual instruments fx etc (for automation etc...). With a touch screen it should be like tap in the start marker (or any other value box or and spin the jog wheel to fine tune your chop , as it is a touch screen and you can scroll and zoom with your fingers no q-link where needed. In this scenario 8 q-links a la mpc advance keyboards to control a VIP like software would be enough in my opinion, because when doing live or automating you will want to have more than just the jog wheel to twist at a time.
I believe that the actual MPC software fits better for a Ren like experience than for a touch experience, a complete redesign of the software that take both into account would unleash more power to the touch that it does right now IMO of course.

Some great ideas here. I almost bought a Ren over the Touch just for the qlinks.

If your ideas aren't implemented I would link to see a new qlink mode. This mode would be selectable in the preferences new vs old style.

That's cool too, it would be better than the current implementation but hopefully they will consider my feature request. The way that I envision it would make it lightning quick, you'd just rest your left hand at the four pads A1-A4 and keep your right hand at the Q-links if you want to edit the start of the sample tap A1, edit the end tap A2, and so on. You see how quick those finger drummer guys are hitting pads so I just imagine this way being quicker. With the Ren you're using two hands, the left hand on the first roll of Q-links, the right hand on the second roll of Q-links, if you need to zoom you have to lift your right hand look over at the Q-links and move your hand to the fourth roll of Q-links. With what I'm proposing you would not need to look at the Q-links (once your hands are in position) nor move your hands to the fourth or second roll of Q-links.
