Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

1. I build a song in the MPC Software, using VST's and External Hardware.

2. I open the tune in Logic and use Ren as VST...

3. When I open the Ren inside of Logic, I lose my VST's from the REN song (Logic says they cannot be found) and my MIDI outputs from the Ren are no longer working...

What's the best way, or is there a way, to get those tracks (VST and external MID) playing in Logic as well, other than importing the MIDI files and re-routing them in Logic.

That is the reason for my feature request for the plug in to be as featured as the standalone app.

In plugin mode I have just been using dry samples and routing them to the daw. I use the daw to use synths like Sonik Synth 2, etc...

You can also just render your audio to separate tracks and just go back if you need to make a change.

I have also created 2 sets of folders to save to, because if you use the plugin and save it. It will overwrite your files, the standalone file that saves vst's. I learned the hard way..

OK.

How about the Ren controlling external instruments via MIDI?

Is there any way to do this from inside a DAW?

I haven't tried to sequence external hardware from the MPC plugin.

I saw this, you could probably route the midi output from your daw and use this midi mode.

OK, not sure that covers it....

What I'd like to be able to do is;

I'm sending out MIDI to hardware units in the MPC Software,

When I open the project from within my DAW (Logic 9) why isn't the REN sending MIDI any more? There must be some setting in the DAW or somewhere...

The Ren is obviously playing the sequence, I just need to figure out how to get it to send it's MIDI data to the hardware, which it's not doing as a VST, for some reason...

I don't know how it's done in Logic but in Reaper you have to add an additional track that will receive midi data from the track that the MPC Ren/Touch is on, and the additional track that you've added will then be assigned to whatever midi port that your hardware synth is on. Here is a video that explains how it's done in Reaper, maybe some of it will apply to Logic too.

Try sending the midi data thru the DAW. From the DAW to external hardware.

I haven't tried this myself though, good luck.

Do you have another midi port for your DAW?
