Export

Do you think the export feature on the MPC software is capable of giving high quality professional results?.....or is it more designed for quick / rough mixes?....

I’m interested to check for people’s opinions / experiences on this…..

I'd say it probably depends on what you're aiming for. I've been creating beats using almost exclusively vinyl samples (no stock sounds other than a bass). I've been pretty happy with my exports. Specifically, I've been surprised at the overall volume of the exports- as in they are surprisingly loud- in fact much louder than if I tried to do the same thing on Garageband (Source: I've tried). Overall volume level has always been something I've personally struggled with on any DAW, but for whatever reason, the MPC software can churn out some hot exports and with minimal compression.

I agree! I did a mix in the software and a mix in logic and thought the mix in the software came out a little more thumpy and loud than the logic version.

I made the jump soon after 1.8 and made the decision to record exclusively within the MPC and I have to say the results have completely exceeded my expectations!
Loud.
Punchy.
Crystal Clear.
Balanced.
No pops, crackles or glitches! (was struggling previously with this when feeding it through Reaper and then into the NI Audio 6)

It really has been a win win since I've made the switch and can't see myself changing anytime soon, although that might change when 2.0 drops and this thing actually becomes a full blown DAW and I can route my hardware directly into the MPC on a large scale level (I hope)

I'll also give some advice before I sign off...

Don't be afraid to use some of the AKAI Stock plug ins, particularly the compressors. I have been getting great results with the Master compressor and VCA, particularly on drums and bass.

Make use of the submix section to group things together. The moment I did this my mixes jumped up a notch and things were easier to separate and balance within the mix.

That MPC60 plug is a secret weapon that can't sound bad. I've tried it on everything and it never fails to make things thump and bump!!

The mpc3000 plug in is less impressive, it does seem to bring a sparkle to the top end but removes some of the bottom to gain this. You'd probably be able to bring this back with an eq boost around the 60-90hz range but I just tend to stick with the mpc60 plug as it's the sound I'm looking for. (Thick, round and juicy)
