dont be so drastic bro..
my Ren & MacBook Pro can have the same crackling occurring during times of multiple fx setting, setup or tweaking!
ive spent 2 years trying to find out why.
Keep your Ren directly connected to computer / no usb expansion boards
turn off airport
repair your permissions & preferences

there are times it happens in 15 minutes & other times in 15 hours..
its unusual but not the kind of thing to scrap the Ren altoghether

i hope you are able to fix it. first problem i see is that you are on mac. shit i also use my mpc as my main soundcard and it **** up now. and the parts arent cheap either. its a **** pain in the ass to fix it. hopefully it isnt the same problem i have, which is the pcb board that you have to replace. since its all comes together and you cant buy a sound card a lone..atleast not from wha ti can tell ;(

also my bro has a maschine..i was trying it and **** that..its a dope program but its like starting from zero all over again. so in the mean time im just using another interface and running the mpc through there. im about to hook up my mpc to my mixer and see if i can use that soundcard for now ;(

I have this issue from time to time but I wouldn't sell my beloved Ren because of it!

I'll tell you how I minimise its effects..

1) Turn off all wireless/internet connections. The Ren does not like the pc being connected to the internet while it's running. I don't know the technical reasons why, but once I turn these off the popping lessens immediately. Plus it helps me focus on creating music and not being distracted, so it's most definitely a win win.

2) Update everything to the latest drivers, graphics cards included.

3) Don't run your Ren from a usb 3 port. Directly into USB 2 only.

4) Defrag your hard drives and keep your computer clean and tidy. This is quite a general tip but it's worth repeating as there can be little bits of corrupt software and bad programs lurking around causing mayhem without being spotted. Clean that mess up!!!

5) Look at your Ren's settings. Adjust these if they're too demanding. I use the Ren live and my laptop is not the most powerful so I have to adjust to around 512/Usb Buffer 3 or 4 to avoid serious pops. On my desktop, which is far more capable, I can keep that to around 128/usb buffer 2 and not worry about pops.
Note: If there's one point which will make the most difference in your clicks and pops issue it's this one.

6) Check how much power you're allocating to the MPC Software. You can make this a top priority, normal or a minor priority. Check what you have it set to and adjust. Note: Making the MPC your top priority doesn't always work best, I know it didn't on my desktop but this might not be the case for you. Alter, test and verify for yourself.

7) Talk to Akai. They're experts, supposedly, so they should have some advice and tips for you. Any good company will be able to assist on how to best set up their products and troubleshooting issues.

So, that's the best advice I can give based on my experience over the past 4 years with my deeply cherished Ren. I hope this helps in some way and that you can get to the root of your problems.

Peace

Just to further clarify.

You can also get the popping issue when using another audio interface other than the Ren's. It is not solely a by-product of using the Ren's audio interface.

I had this problem on my MacbookPro 2015 since day one. I use an external interface now. I set my input and output in the MPC Software to the interface. I don't use the Ren interface for anything.
I've never had a problem since. Very happy now.
BTW I used to run it on Windows before the Mac and never had a problem.

i see what u did there silis..ill talk to ya in gmail chat ;)

anyways monsta..damn wtf..youve had thhat mpc since it came out and its still working? **** bullshit..ive had mine for about 2 years more or less and the pcb board **** up and its not outputting any sounds. i have it connected to my traktor mixer right now and using the traktor driver/soundcard to use sound. it started by cracking/popping and **** up a lot at first..so hopefully it doesnt end up being the pcb boards like mine. because if it is, its expensive. the analog pcb board is 184 and the digital one which is where you connect the usb and hsit is 200 or 260 some shit like that. ;(
