Thinking about adding a MPC studio to my setup with Logic Pro X and was wondering is it possible to use it as a plugin inside Logic Pro X like I would a AU/VST instrument with its own track?

Thank you

Yes it is possible, although most find the implementation terrible - it comes with a VST and AU plugin (and AAX). I suspect with MPC 2.0 having audio tracks and all the other alleged improvements the general shift will be to using the MPC as a DAW in its own right. Ultimately MPC Essentials is really the one designed for plugin use as you can create multiple instances of this, however this is still languishing on version 1.8.2.

So I guess you can only create one instance in Logic? that does suck. Is MPC Essentials available for sale? like I wanted to buy the software only? Thats kind of what I want something to chop within Logic and have several instances available if need be.

thanks

The implementation is poor at best. Trust me, you don't want to try to use it. It doesn't work like any other multi-timbral plugin that you're used to using. And like Tutor said, there are no indications that it's ever going to be developed beyond what it is right now. There are WAY better options for Logic.

What don't you guys like?

I use the software with the Touch in Ableton all the time, works great for me. I'm not a person though who wants multiple instances of the plugin. I'm not to sure what you would do with multi timbre settings in a plug in. Of course I can see the uses in a standalone mode.

Another question, why do you need multiple instances of the plugin to chop samples? What would be the problem doing that with one instance of the plugin?

If you are just looking to chop samples then ex24 is somewhat decent but not as good as the mpc. I would do all my sampling and sequencing work in the standalone version and then bring my tracks over to logic. My work flow is like this: Chop samples, do my drums. Drag and drop the audio when they are finalized. Layer bass or strings if needed then mix and master in logic.

You are getting confused with the terminology. Multitimbral means it can play many different sounds at once multiple instances of the plug in are not really necessary for what you are looking for. I would suggest getting a mpc studio to begin with. If you are just looking to chop samples and do all your other sequencing in logic or ableton this is your best option in my opinion.

You don't need multiple instances. Just one and then run different tracks (can't remember what the term is but you press the + at the bottom of the track when it has an instrument with multiple outputs on) for different programs on the mpc. I found the routing in logic really poor for midi so ended up switching to reaper and it made everything easier!

I am having issues using the MPC Software 1.9.6 [64-bit] as a plug-in within Logic Pro X (10.2.4). I am using the MPC Touch as my controller along with the MPK 49. I use the MPC to create drum tracks and for sampling; I use Logic for for things that I create using the keyboard (MPK 49). There seems to be syncing issues with Logic and the MPC Touch/software during playback and recording. I will press play and sometimes the elements in Logic begin playing before the MPC elements. I often have to stop the track and then start it again in order to sync.

So, you guys are saying that there is no way to fix this issue? Arrrrrrrgggghhhh!!!
