Something is dropping Sept 1st! 2.0?

According to akai's Instagram something is on the way Sept 1st

I didn't see anything!

I hope Akai is going to make the 1/64 rolling triplet snare and hat quick button.

I didn't see anything about 2.0 dropping. I did see this though. Apparently there not going to implement the q link edit before 2.0. This is supposed to be a paid upgrade?



I also find it funny that they post up pictures to legacy Akai products.

Why doesn't Akai do more to support those legacy products? Like the MPC software being able to read s series, or how about this, let JJ continue to make Operating Systems to other MPC's.

Where is that pic from?

The image and text comes from the 'New Products For 2016' press release put out 9 months ago during January NAMM, so nothing new to report in that respect.

On another note, your either sarcastic or need some glasses. My first sentence was, I didn't see anything about 2.0 dropping.

I don't see anything on Instagram about anything dropping on Sept 1st. There's a promo that ends 1st September, but that's a competition to win a Touch.

Seems very quiet on the 2.0 front, as far as I can see nothing mentioned by Akai since January. Based on all their previous MPCS releases, you'd expect some Geoff & Pete 'we're really excited about...' vids to come out when they are close to releasing it.

I'm sure that's just a new policy or something, whether it's initiated by Akai or Pete, who knows.
Pete used to tweet a lot about the MPC but not anymore.

Still, something would be nice when we're talking about an update. I understand companies want to stay silent when they're baking a whole new product, but some words wouldn't hurt regarding whether it'll be even out in 2016 or not.

I would guess that Pete gave up tweeting about the MPC Software as he was getting badgered by MPC users 24/7 asking the same old stuff. In the end it's his personal twitter account, not an Akai one.

IMO if you are going to openly talk about a future OS release back in January, you should keep that line of communication open throughout the development process, not just clam up completely. They should have released 2.0 within a few weeks of NAMM if they wanted to capitalise on all the 2.0 buzz and chatter; now all that momentum has pretty much fizzled out.

Yeah – the discussion will calm down and it'll be way harder to capitalize. I'm not sure it makes sense to present something at NAMM if it takes some 9 months or whatever to actually put the product out.
