How do I record mic'd instruments to the mpc touch?

Basically as the subject says. I have my congas mic'd to my mixer which the mpc touch is also running through. My question is I've tried sampling my congas but the recording sounds super distorted. What is going on and what can I do to have outputs running through my mpc touch?

Guessing here, try turning the mic gain down.

You might have a feedback loop?

I have audix condenser mics. I have a The Alesis multi mix 8. Basically all mics and audio are running through the mixer(including the mpc touch) which is running through my Kaoss pad. Which is running through my receiver. I tried plugging the output of the mixer into the mpc touch and the instruments sound distorted.
