Snap Crackle and Pop

My MPC Renaissance is constantly snapping and popping when I try to do any work on it. It lags like crazy. I've missed with the latency adjust feature, and it still gives me problems. I'm considering buying an interface to remedy the issue, but I don't think that will be a permanent fix. Any help?

I have projects made on an 2015 iMac that choke on a 2008 MacBook Pro. Snap, crackle and pop.

Its a usb issue. Ive gone back and fourth with akai a million times and they know about it but they just don't care. It has something to do with how the ren interfaces with newer macs. Your options are to get a new interface or buy a usb to fire wire adaptor that may or may not work.
