macOS Sierra

I haven't given it a try yet but wondering if anyone has at all?

Just doing a TimeMachine backup and then will probably test my Macbook out with it but thought I'd check if it means I'm going to have to revert to El Cap straight away!

TimeMachine backup is a smart evacuation plan, you are likely to experience some issues with the new OS. I am still on yosemite, dont plan on upgrading until absolutely have to. I tried el capitan early on when conflicts were still being ironed out and had to revert back to yosemite, timemachine saved me ton of headache.

if there's no real benefit to you to upgrade early there's really no point and previous version of os is always the best in terms of stability

I have tried Sierra when it was in beta and Ren music card wasn't recognized by the system. There was no option to select it in software as an input / output.

There is no new update from Akai yet AFAIK so it's better to wait till then.

I upgraded right away because ElCap never worked right for me. So far, flawless on the Touch. I'm thrilled because now I can use my Mac again, I've been doing everything in Win 10.

General rule is to wait until your software vendors have provided update to its software for the new OS. Also, if it ain't broke, there is no need to upgrade. For all of us who have to have the latest, BE SURE TO BACK UP VIA TIME MACHINE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT REVERT TO A PREVIOUS OS UNLESS YOU RESTORE FROM TIME MACHINE OR COMPLETELY WIPE YOUR SYSTEM. I assume this is true for Windows as well (hard to imagine Windows being stable).

I found no problems.

My system has, Arturia V5 collection, Ableton, Korg Legacy, and MPC of course. Logic X of course works.

The Roland Capture drives work well too. No problems.

Korg Legacy collection works as well as MPC, Sweet. Can tick that one off the list.

IDK if this is just me but for the Ren, my Ren output vanished and it won't let me install the drivers. The screen keeps closing as soon as it opens SMH.

OSX Sierra 10.12 full release , test .

My MPC driver can be installed , but the audio I/O ins and outs are missing.

Akai state they are testing atm for ren. hopefully a new driver soon.. thanks apple. gees.

Motu Firewire audio interface is working though. Im two inputs down on my project.

To add to the test , disabled SIP system protection in terminal , and the inputs and outs show up , but still dont work . No audio is input . daa. Apple working its magic for sure . Have to wait for a new “signed” audio driver.

• they're never faster than the older ones; you'll be needing more juice...this is even a slow, clear long-term plan to sell new iPhones, too...a new OS at some point will radically slow down the older models, while a new one will be fast enough

Cmon man, you know tinfoil hats actually make it easier to read your brainwaves.

But in all seriousness. Apple are rocking a conspiracy because newer software that is designed for more powerful devices runs worse on older devices?!?!?! Device obsoletion is hardly a new thing in technology buddy. Would you expect a 4 year old car that has effectively had it's engine running the entire time to run the same as a brand new one?

I said absolutely nothing about a conspiracy? I totally understand that moneymaking model. That's why I'm saying there's no real reason to update unless you want to find yourself in a situation where you realize you need a new device with more power.

It's not a 'money making model'. It's limitations of old hardware.

If you think of iPhone or OS X updates – how many useful added features can you think of in the past few years that wouldve made updating actually worth it? Not talking about eye candy.
The OSs get heavier on the older systems.
They need to make the older devices obsolete somehow.
Sales see a peak every time a new model comes out. If there were new models, sales would slow down a bit. Not what they want.

They wouldn't have to release those updates. But they do. And that sort of "forces" people to buy new devices. Happened to me; I once installed a new OS on my then iPhone 4, not then realizing it'd make it slow as hell. Put up with it for a year, then finally bought iPhone 6.
But TBH if I had known about the slowness, I never wouldve updated as I didnt update it for any features that made my life any better. I'd still be with my 4. But it got so slow, it was annoying. Lesson learned. Haven't been updating since, and won't be doing it unless something major comes up. Will probably be rocking my 6 till it breaks. No updates that make it slower please.
