Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I have pre-ordered a mpc live and have been reading the mpc touch manual to allready get a little known with the operating system and workflow of the new mpc's. One thing i havent been able to get from the manual is if settings per program and sample are locked to the sequence?

So if i have for example a layered bassdrum (3 kicklayers) on pad1 coming from a drumprogram. If i mute layer 3 in sequence one, and mute layer 1 in sequence 2 will this be locked to the sequence? And is this automatable in the sequence?

Generally speaking a program is built and assigned to a sequence and the only aspects that can be changed dynamically during sequence playback are those that can be assigned to Qlinks. These qlinks movements can then be recorded to your sequence for automation purposes. You can control layer playback in real time, as in playing back a specific layer as opposed to muting a specific layer.

If you want to play back different layer combinations on a pad, just create the different layer combo on a different pad.

Thanks for the reply

I am planning to build livesets of about a hour. Using 16 programs per 'song' which ideally will be placed int their seperate banks, every program assigned to a pad, so that it can play without stopping. Also having 8 audiotracks running behing the programs and sequences ill be triggering live. I am really curious how the audiotracks are going to behave and if there will be workflow without having to reload while performing on the mpc live.
Anyhow im looking forward seeing what it can do, and if it could possibly replace the laptop without losing ways to freak live and play with parameters and song structures

Scroll to the bottom.

Test it yourself, the software is functional except the audio times out after 10 minutes. You can even load and save in the demo.

I sold my octatrack, to get some funds for the mpcliv epre-order. Octatrack has no sample layering and only 8 tracks, 7 if you use one for master effects. NEct to that the OS is not intuitive. Still for some its a good sampler, just a totally different beast
