Hold pad down note 1/16

I had an mpc 1000 a looooong time ago, and just now getting back into the MPC. Copped an MPC studio, and still using the 1.0 version software. I remember with the 1000, I could hold a pad down, and it would play 1/4 1/16 etc notes like for a hi-hat for instance. How do I do this with MPC studio? Im sure its easy but I have held the note button down and selected 1/16 notes and it doesnt work.

Im supposed to hold note repeat while holding the pad i want to note repeat at the same time? If so, is this upgraded in the new software versions? Thanks for the reply.
