Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Hi. I just got a used MPC Touch and I'm considering upgrading to a One. Something I haven't figured out yet though is setting loop points within a keygroup sample so I can sample and use synth sounds. Could someone either walk me through it or point me to a video or other type of resource that explains this?

And just to be very clear, I want to:

* record a synth sound
* play the sample from the start
* loop a segment of the sample while the key is still pressed
* continue playing the rest of the sample after the sample is released

Please tell me it's possible.

I'm having a hard time finding info on the internet because "loop" is a pretty generic word and usually refers to something else in the MPC world.

Thanks

Not possible ,so forget about capturing the natural fading tail of a sample.... this ,plus the lack of pitch envelope are major missing features

Damn. Thanks for the info. Anyone know if this is on the roadmap at least?

None of those features have ever been mentioned by Akai, I really hope they put some time improving the program spec in many places to make the MPC more suitable for drum design and multisampling. A pitch envelope would be fantastic, as would 'per layer' envelopes, filter, lfo and FX rather than 'per pad'. keygroup and layer crossfade would be lovely, as would round robins per velocity layer.

When in key group mode go to Wave /grid/list
Choose Wave
Then set points of sample
Check loop lock
Done

You can adjust the start and end points of the looped part and not just the start and end of the sample?

I guess bilposey didn't understood that you want a end point for the loop that is different from the sample's one...

If I answer here so long time after your last post it's because perhaps you're still searching about a way to do this, and I have an idea that works, at least for a drum program:

-On the sample edit just make two slices, one for the attack + looping (sustain) and the other for the release

-On the program make the slice 2 pad playing simultaneously with the slice 1 pad

-Slice 1 pad is 'note on'

-Slice 2 pad is 'note off'

-Deal with both pad's envelope to make a kinda cross over

Duno if it could help you but here's a lil' program as proof of concept ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Curious to know if it could be done, I also found a kinda solution for keygroups. With the same note on/note off combo principle, here a project that show you how:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zqmiaQS9bqYgMyK4XJ5xFIV1znHqoAkB?usp=sharing

-AS keygroup is Atack/Sustain using the slice 1, loop point set for the sustain part
Set as a note on
-R keygroup is Release using slice 2
Set as a note off

Both keygroups are trigered by an external midi device but don't forget to set midi monitor as 'merge' in the Track View

It's not very efficient with the sound that I've used here because there's a lot of LFOs in this Volca Modular patch sample and they mixed each others in a messy way between the slices 1&2 during the crossover part...envelopes are pretty hard to set but hey! it works !
I'm sure it can be useful with natural sounds instruments for example...

I've tried to use the pads to trigger both keygroups but I didn't find a way to redirect theirs midi inside the MPC itself...
So I tried thrue a midi track that out in MPCA, patching the MPCA OUT port in the MPC1 IN port in a dumb and old-school way but it doesn't work well:
The pads aren't responding correctly and we have to push them twice to get the note off message, very strange...
If OS 3 is better at this game please tell, i'm still runing the 2.15 to keep the OG workflow (one program feed multiple tracks)

Hope that it will help some of you !
