How to make drums/samples play out without holding down pad?

First post anyway, I use LMMS (basically a free rip-off of flstudio) and I'm wondering how to set my MPD18 so I can just drum and not hold down the pad im hitting to make a cymbal ring out, for example. I'm pretty sure it's from the MPD editor that you install when you first get one, right? Thanks

It will be some sort of setting in LMMS, not in the MPD.

The MPD has no idea how long a cymbal sample in LMMS is.

In an MPC, it would be setting the sample playback to one-shot, you probably need to find something like that in LMMS.
