Should i buy MPD24 or not?

even though akai mpd is does not have flam and Roll but i guess it does not matter b/c pads alone wins the 50% of the competition against other pad controllers. yes also MMC controlls is not much but you can use them and don't have mess around with mouse.

using reason those knobs and sliders helps you out lot. if you assign them with the main mixer.

For those that use and own the MPD24, what would u say is the program that gives you the TOTAL MPC feel? Ableton Live? Battery & a DAW? FL Studio?

Right now I'm using Reason & the 4K but if I could find a Daw with the MPC's workflow and ease-of-use sequencer, I'd get the MPD24, sell my 4K and get a couple of external modules (Proteus 2500 & Access Virus C)

it might be hard for mpc users to convince them self that the DAW can perform better than only mpc it self. but i guess that gear is so addictive that u can't get way.. i mean there is KONTAKT , Battery, Reason, FL Studio and few others which has so many sounds and even features. but if you still stuck in 80s and choping records than u might have hard time with DAWs.

but i like the DAW for $1000 i think you can buy few soft easy. like FL Studio and reason just to get started. and use it with mpd.

I just made the switch to software from my MPC2500 and while it took a little getting used to the switch, I honestyl don't know if I wanna go back.

I'm running Digital Performer 5 and Battery 3 with an MPD24 and it is **** sweet!!! Digital Performer is extremely easy to use and it works just like an MPC and even has MPC300 swing. If your a mac guy, I highly recommend this combination for the easiest switch. I still making beats just like I would on my MPC.

I'm in the middle of making the switch from my 2500 to software. Though I'm not really sure if I want to use software exclusively. I'm using Logic Pro 7.2 with Battery 3 as a VST and an MPD 24.

After making beats solely on Reason 3.0 recently, I subtract my prior comments. I can't give up my MPC 4K, there's nothing like HAVING an MPC.

The MPD24 doesn't even have note repeat. Plus the MPC's sequencer MAKES it special. I find myself having to do too much editing when recording on Reason 3.0. Everything is done so quickly on the 4000.

When I get my Proteus 2500, my software synth days will be all but over (the purchase of the Access Virus C will kill them for good).

how is the nano sampler that comes with DP5?

and could you elaborate on your workflow, and what you use for chopping loops and programming them(asuming you do)?

My work flow is just like on an MPC. I record from my Numark PT-01 into an M Audio firewire interface into Digital Performer. From there I export my sample into a wave and assign it to a pad in Battery. I do all my chopping in Battery by setting the start and end points. Then I load drums on another program of Battery. From there, lay down boom bap drums, set the groove quanitze to MPC300 swing (various settings depending on if I even quantize) and then add my chopped up samples. I use the included bassline VST and use the pads of my MPD24 to trigger bass, just like I did on my 2500. It is all so self contained its dope. It's the same as using and mpc, but instead of having that small green pixely screen, I have my 17 inch laptop screen. I dont use a mouse, just the touch pad. Keeps it much more simple. There is no latency either. Very compact.

If I use a loop, I do the same, but lay down my loop first. Then I change the tempo on the sequencer till it loops perfectly and then...make a banger!!!

I haven't used nano sampler. Honestly haven't even opened it. I use the least amount of features as possible to keep it simple as possible. After I figured everything out, I am making beats as quick if not quicker than on my MPC.

you should get a s950, asr10 rack or something to go along with your sw, if you want some hardware in there..

im was thinking about gettin a s950. im working on eqing an layering techniques am im really getting good at it. once i fully grasp those techniques, who knows i may not even need the s950.

i think the mpd24 would be iller if it had note repeat, but with FL note repeat isnt that hard to do.

well u get that in KORGAY pads but than u have to compromise the pad quality.
