MPD-24 ?!

its gonna be $199 and comes out in August according to a email i got from akai.

If you already own a mpc why would u get this?
Battery 2 is sick i got it. MPD24, battery 2 and a DAW ya good!

seriously, if battery could sample, i would get rid of my mpc. WHY DOESN'T ANYONE MAKE A BLOODY SOFTWARE SAMPLER THAT ACTUALLY SAMPLES /noob-style caps-lock-tastic rant.

why not just record your samples into a wav editor and do everything else in battery then?

what would be the advantage to you if you record directy into battery?

just a little time saving really, i'd like it to feel more like an mpc, more instant. i dunno, maybe i'm being a wiener. :oops:

Just for that purpose..MPD24, Battery 2, and Nuendo 3 for a software based set-up. The next best thing to having two MPCs for a mere fraction of the price...

I'll definitely let you know if I see it over here. I'm picking up a new Intel Mac in July and planning on adding Logic. The sampler in that is supposed to be pretty nice so I'm either going to pick up the Akai Pads or the Korg ones.

The Emulator X samples. I believe the latest GigaStudio does also. Other than that, software samplers don't sample. Kinda stupid if you ask me. They're just sample players, really. Not samplers.

ahh yes, i'd forgotten the gigastudio! didn't know the emulator x sampled, thanks for letting me know! does it work as a vst? it is kinda stupid why they're called samplers really isn't it? peace

in hardware we use and understand the word sampler(sample) differently than the software versions.

Yeah, and the Emulator X also can do the "keyboard cloning" that the Gen2 Neko yaps about (Emu calls it Synth Swipe). And yes, it functions as a VST. The X2 is out, or will be soon.

I hear what you're saying Street, but it's not like sample players are a new invention. Thing is, neither Akai nor Roland ever referred to them as samplers. That the trend has changed has lead to a LOT of confusion.
