Hey all, I am looking at purchasing an akai MPK49 but I wanted to know if I need an interface device and/or if I go the USB route will I have latency issues with a standard 5.1 computer sound card? I have a fairly decent PC, intel Q6700 quadcore, 4GB ram, 8800GTS, DFI lan party mobo etc.

You'll definitely want the ASIO4ALL drivers to use with your soundcard. I'd download those and make sure they work first before investing.

make sure the firmware is updated to v1.05 on the MPK49.

i would think you would be fine with your stock soundcard, no need to get an audio interface just for a pad controller, your just gonna be hooking it up via usb and controlling stuff in your daw/softsynths, but like mesohordey said, the ausio4all couldnet be a bad idea.

good luck man

Jesus man, I gave a brain dead answer earlier. Damien's right, ASIO4ALL isn't going to to do anything for the controller.
