Support and chat about Akai's range of MIDI controllers, including the MPD. MPK and LPD

Hi,
I need a velocity sensitive drum pad that would be easy to work with.
I liked the way the LPD8 is small and cheap and had a solid structure. The only problem I read in forums are that it is very unresponsive and unsensitive (you have to press hard and at the middle of each pad) compared to other products (Korg padkontrol, vestax pad one). The reviews were until the begining of 2012. A year have passed and I wish to know if these problems are solved by now, so I can buy one of these or find an alternative ?

Thanks,
Dave

Yeah inflict is right, the pads are a different design than the MPD's which have actual classic style MPC pads but in every model are mounted dead wrong negating all that is good about the classic sensor sheet/pad sheet design.

Although I will say I rate the Korg pads very highly. And the current nano version gives you a full 16 pads for pretty cheap.

1. in the review it is mentioned: "... pad very hard..."
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=272879
2. "... though I found it a bit hard ..."

3. "... not like how hard I had ...."

and there are many other reviews with the same complaint.

But why are you overlooking that 7 people on the same page had no problem, one even says it was very sensitive.

Again Inflict is correct, and to further that I have touched these pads and they are also the same as the Akai XR-20's responsive pads. Maybe these people who have issue (a minority it seems in all these reviews/post) just got small fingers and weak hands, and I'm not even clowning I mean that seriously.

Like I said if you are that worried about it just buy 16 Korg pads for the same price that never get even one complaint on the sensitivity.
