Akai MPD26 Sampling and Supporting Windows 8(including Ablet

Hi guys,
I have some questions about MPD 26:
Can MPD26 save samples without USB connection or can it work without USB connection?I am going to work with FL Studio 11 Producer or Signature Bundle Edition,so what do you prefer for the beginner?Please reply...
And final question:
Does MPD26 support(including Ableton Live Lite) support Windows 8?

MPDs do not load/save samples.

They are simply MIDI controllers, they send MIDI note on/off data into the computer, there has to be software running on the computer to load/save/etc. the samples, and to play them in response to incoming MIDI note on/off messages from the MPD.


I think I recall reading that the MPD26 does not work with Windows 7/8, possibly because the driver does not work on those operating systems, but someone else will have to confirm that.
