I've been in touch with Akai tech support and have been informed that there is no way to update pad LED states/colours via MIDI i.e., the only way to change the lights/colours is via the editor. However, I was wondering and hoping that someone might have found otherwise... Even if it's via SysEx or some other convoluted method. So far, I've tried brute force sending all the standard note messages of all velocities to see if anything had any effect, but not found anything yet.
