I reported it to jj but anyway 
I found that once velocity is recorded with a pad or q-link, you can't overwrite it with q-link anymore. You actually hear a change while "after key" is on but mpc does not record it, what makes it pretty useless.
I checked and even the first version of XL does not support it, but I switched to OS2 and it works fine.
