normalize % value!

pretty simple.. at the moment there is only normalize to full level... some samples i normalize in the mpc(2500 jjos1) clip... so every time i feel the need to normalize in the mpc, i have to copy the sample, normalize, check if it clipped, if it didn't i scrap the original, if it did i have to scrap the copy, export via usb to soundtrack pro to normalize, where it gives me the option of what % i want to normalize to (like any other software normalizer). although even if i choose 100% it does NOT clip, that only happens in the mpc...

now you can say, 'oh it might be the sample'.... but no! i have tried this a ridiculous amount of times, sometimes it is the sample just bringing the level of crackle up, but most the time it just adds digital clicks at a few spots, making the sample useless to my ears! very hard to work with after this..

this would be a HUGE time saver for me, and i'm sure alot of my fellow mp headz!

anyone feel me on this?

edit: actually with soundtrack pro (2.0.1) it tells me what 'Current Level: -**.*** dB' the sample is at, and the normalize option is in dB... just thought i'd clarify that, i'm doing it atm..

peace!

Sort of, sometimes to achieve the distortion I want, I need to normalize above the maximum level, I can't on JJos2, but I think you can on XL.
I switched back from XL to OS2 and I don't regret it

Os 2xl has a normalize scale between 10 - 200%, although I personally don't nomalize that often. I would rather use good volume control, but the function is there if you need it.

on another note, what about 16 levels in grid edit?

say you played a bass line for example in 16 levels (tune) and want to know what notes (pads) you played, you could be in step edit and press 16 levels or something and have, or have a dedicated (f) button for it..

coz you know if you play something in 16 levels mode, and look at it in step/grid mode, it will just have the one note over and over...

or even when you put the cursor over that note and hit {rec} and have the edit options (still in grid mode) also have the 16 levels params.. so you could pull up an old beat and know what you did while in 16 levels..... anyone get me?

it would be handy for me i know, but anyone else understand? ???

What I wish badly is to set pitchbend range other than 12 semitones.
Would be great to set it on my own somewhere.

But I can go with fixed standard range - 2 semitones.

Who uses 12 for normal leads?

Cheers!
