Seeing as this is not here yet, thought I'd make a topic for discussion. Imo the workflow could be as simple as in Layer-window you'd assign samples to layers and set RR to 'ON'. MPC would (ignore velocity range and) output one of the layered sample randomly when hitting the pad.

On a side note: option to choose either "aftertouch x-fade" or "layer4" for pad would be awesome.

Hmm.. should the play be be sequential ie. L1->L2->L3->L1->L2... rather than random?

There are two types of round robins: Live and Sequenced

To satisfy both I think the program change in MODE Pad14 "Step Edit" needs more options.

I looked in the Akai manual and it, said "You can set the program change. This event is normally used to switch the sound of an external sound module. If program numbers are assigned to programs in the internal sampler section, you can switch the programs that are assigned to the track number.

Well right now you can't switch internal programs. So that is the first thing that is needed(a selection of internal programs) "Internal Program Change". The second selection is for pad banks to change like in the video--"Pad Bank Change".

JJ can also give you a sequence named "RR Bank Changes" that has "Bank Changes".

Please feel free to critique.

Round robin in NDC mode. Sequential or random chop playback. This has been requested many times, I dunno why JJ has not implemented ithis yet, maybe it's very difficult,...

Aww,thank you for that piece of information. Good Look!!!

I did the round robin using program changes, and created a program change pattern in pattern mode. Its pretty slick cause you can essentially remix a beat (or add a human feel) quick by just copying a program several times with minor edits and turn on the pattern mode for that pad.

Its a 1/16 Round Robin offset by 2 clicks--instead of 1.01.24 I set it to 1.01.26 the thing about doing it this way is you can go with 2 to 127 banks if you want. You get sequential and random. You can even switch the "program change pattern pad" (in pattern mode) to switch it up even more.

So, JJ can just add after "patrn06" a 1 bar program change pattern (1/32) that will give you a template to edit the round robin to your liking.

Well he kinda has hasnt he - I mean look at Qlink to chop and Qlink slider for velocity. If you set up pad velocity layers and use the Q link to set Velocity and therefore sample, you can get close. If you make a sample and use NDC to chop say 4 or 5 hits and they are used for your different hits on that one pad, and you can again come close using the program and set the chop of pad with Qlink. G i havnt tried both at the same time though so ill get back to you about that
