1. Record a sample
2. Trim mode
3. Chop: ON
4. SLICE
5. Press pads
See how the sliced regions light up and you hear it play? Try changing the slice while doing that and realize it's not auditioning the slice, it's just playing the existing chop. Yet, it's highlighting the slices, and if you set it to 2 slices then you can only hear the first 2 chops, but it has nothing to do with what you see in the slice display.
