yeah I do that but I also have a mpc 5000 and when I layer the kicks in there they dont really clash like they do when I layer them in the 3000. I dont know its really weird. I mean they realy bump if I layer them before I sample but if i try to layer the kicks in the 3000 the sounds really clash with each other... maybe I just need to layer different kicks...

it sounds like it could be the start points arent chopped dead on, assuming you chop on the 3000. On the 5000 itll be easier to see the silence before the drum starts, try slowing the sample down when you chop on older machines, speed it back up when you chopped the start points clean.
