60 Problem - dead?

Hi guys,
I got problem with my 60 MK1.
It worked fine.
just got my new marion SCSI adapter.
I have install it by the instructions, and when I try to test it, to turn on the mpc, the display don't show text, justs some black lines, and in 3-5 sec. then the screan is blank.
No noise, no lights, no sound of "engine runnin".
I check'd all the wires, ribbons, nothing.
Turned the power off.
I removed the SCSI, replaced with original RS-232C port and still nothing.
Machine don't work, it's in this non-working state.
How can it be fixed? :shock:

Im in the same boat with a spare 60. Are theses your symptoms?

If you turn it on does the screen glitch?

If you turn the dial does it glitch from white to black to scattered lines.

Did you check the contrast cables.

Me and Bruce are going to try pin the problem this week, ill update if i can.

Yes, the same symptoms.
I check'd contrast cable, nothing.

Hmhm, actually my 60 had the same symptoms with the black-then nothing screen on boot-up.

The solution was dumb simple: if you open up your 60 you will see that the power supply is located pretty close to the main board and cables going to the screen. The power supply board, which is mounted on the rear panel, didn't had all its screws fitted firmly and the result was that the entire board was bended very very slightly downwards with a result to slightly touch the mainboard and cables.

This caused a total failure of the screen because of the voltage bleeding. When i screwed back everything and made sure nothing touches nothing, everything was fixed.

It's been almost a year now that I fixed it and the 60 works like new!

With the power turned off, check the 3 glass fuses on the PS board with a multimetere. If something shorted out inside, one of the fuses might have blown. If you don't have a multimeter, then inspect the fuses to see any look burned or if the filament is broken inside. Good luck!

When your screen was blank, was it white or blue? Kebzer, was your a 60 the MKI or MKII?

So the board with the fuses was touching the board that the screen plugs into? how can that be possible, its too far apart in my 60II unless im missing something. Thanks

Mine is a mk1. I'm not sure if they are different internally. Also, I was not talking about the inverter board, but the mo/bo and the cable running to the display.
