holding

hey looking for a little help here. i know that the MPC is not really ment to play instruments but i want to be able hold a note as long as i want to or as short as i want to. does anyone know to go about making it so i make a sample hold.

I don't know which MPC you have but it seems like you want to create loop points in your samples.

The 60 isn't capable of doing that (since its specialty is percussion). You'll probably have to get an external sampler for that purpose.

i have the MPC 3000 does it have the capability of creating loop points in my samples.

Not to my knowledge. I think only the MPC2000 and up have the ability to deal with loop points.

Hopefully one of the senior members of this board can verify that.

It can be done.... I trigger my emax with my 60 and as long as I press the pad the sample holds. I think I recall doing this within the MPC as well. Im assuming if it send the appropriate midi instruction externally that it can do it internally. Unfortunately I dont have my gear at home so I cant go thru the steps. Just wanted to point out info so you dont give up. Keep at it... The manual is your friend. You will get it eventually.

Yeah, it can be done with an external sampler as the sampler has that function. He was wondering if it could be done with just the MPC and not external sampler (and no midi). I saw nothing in the manual that suggests that that can be done.

you could just use long samples and set the note off mode on. Not the same as using a nice rack sampler to add nice release tails to your stuff, but a decent work around.

Yeah I was going to say that but wasn't sure if it was just the 2000XL that had that.

nah, the 3k and 3.10 60's have it.

im probably mistaken, but, isnt this what the "AFTER" button is for on the 60?

After is for the slider. you could use it on decay, but all your sequenced notes would have to be long enough so that the added decay wouldn't cut them off prematurely. But it doesn't let you play your notes with release, it's an editing kludge but can be used effectively.
