Replacing Backlight on MPC3000

How difficult is it to replace the backlight on a MPC3000?

I already replaced the backlight on my Akai VX600 which uses the same one as the MPC3000.

But I would like to know what the best way is to disassemble the tilted screen so I have easy access to the backlight.

Is anyone here familiar with this procedure?

I know you said in a previous post that a "MPC3000 Service Manual" was on the way to you via AKAI in the Belgium/Holland area.

With that in mind, wait for it to arrive.

There are detailed "exploded" views of all chassis and screen components making disassembly/removal/repair and such a lot easier.

The ASQ10/MPC60 back light is quite a lot easier to change than the MPC3000 one.

Hence my recommendation that you wait until you've received your service documentation.

So it won't so easy to replace that backlight I thought so...
Indeed, I'll better wait for that Service Manual to arrive.

I never thought of purchasing the IB-CRT VGA board. I like my studio to be as compact as possible and an extra monitor won't make it more comfy. It's a bummer that you only see the same thing on the CRT than on the MPC-screen, only bigger.

BTW, are they still available somewhere?

The IB-CRT option can still be purchased through an AKAI distributor. ( at full retail price of whatever and an extended wait period )

Having said that you would be better off to find a dealer with dead stock and purchase one from them at a reduced price.

As for replacing the back light behind your MPC3000 display LCD... Some times it's better to read the road map before driving in new territory...
