well it can't be the bad Foil as I've just replaced it with the one
from Midi-raket.de But it didn't work ....
( read my 1st post in this thread)

What else could it be- still the inverter?

How are your soldering skills? Are you sure the connections are soldered well? Are you certain that the soldered connections are not shorting out to either the LCD or the S950? If you have not done so, put electrical tape around the soldered connections to make sure they are isolated the rest of the unit.

If you are 100% confident that you have a good soldered connection, as stated earlier in the thread, it may be the inverter or the power that goes to the inverter.

You can easily measure the output of the inverter at the backlight, however you will also want to measure the input to the inverter to make sure it is being powered properly. If you don't have voltage output from the inverter, it doesn't mean the inverter is bad as it may not be receiving power.

I don't have the schematics for the S950, but I think the input to the inverter should be around 5VDC.

well, my soldering skills are not pro but ok to solder this type n size of cables ;)
I did test it before soldering by just manualy attaching the El-Foil contacts to the
two cables - but no light :(

Looks like I will not manage without buying the
multimeter first?
