Wavs from mac into mpc 3000

Hey guys. Any advice about how to do this? I have a zip250 USB drive for the mac and a scsi zip for the 3k. I presume I need a wav to snd conversion program for starters but then I'll need to get sounds outta the mac on a zip but then surely the 3k won't read a mac formatted zip? Any help much appreciated

Thanks man. Now the only issue is Will the 3k read the zip written in the mac?

Yes the 3K will read it fine, you have to drag the files both the snd and the program file into the Zip disk on the Mac, "no folders" otherwise the 3K wont
see the files.

On the Mac however it will see the first partition of your Zip disk only (ie: 100 megs disk it will only see a 25 megs partition on your desktop)

so just drag your files into it and then once you load them into the MPC it will
be able to load them fine, then you can copy/save these loaded programs into the other partitions of your Zip disk with no problem.

Hey man, i tried this and it doesnt work! Got the sounds onto a zip using rs16x on my mac (onto a usb zip), exported in mpc3000 format snd (not in a folder)..but when i put the zip in the 3k it wont load the files...i just checked another thread and it seems the mac jumbles the info and writes it in a way that the 3k cant read. Did you actually test it with a 3k or were you just thinking it would work? All the file names are wrong when i scroll thru them on the 3k..

Any ideas?

You will need to format the Zip disk in the MPC3000 before putting it in the Mac for one. The other thing is I use the older MpcPGM Maker and it allows you to format the samples and save them for MPC3000, i don't know how the RS16 works for settings but you might need to check that output sample setting in the program. Are you running the Valiaxi OS 3.5 or the 3.1 Akai OS?

Yep did the formatting in the 3k, converted to snd and exported program in rs16x back onto zip then into mpc but no joy. I'm on os 3.03. Any thoughts? Looks like I'm gonna have to buy vaillixi 3.50 to get this working as it's the mpc not able to read mac partitioning system that I thinks the problem unless anyone else got any ideas? Cheers

The other thing is maybe its the older OS you are on, I was able to read and use ZIP disk's when i had OS 3.16 so I am guessing its that issue because you are back on 3.0.3 but Rohan would be the guy to ask! I am using 3.50 now and have no issues but thats besides the point so I would PM Rohan ( mpc3000le ) and ask what he thinks before getting his Upgrade... but I bet that would fix it. Floppies are no fun!

3.5 fixes alot of these headaches...GET IT!

OS versions prior to 3.11 had problems interpreting particular elements of the file names.

3.50 will fix the issue by creating a cross platform partition mounting system.

On your MAC, all the partitions will be visible.

For now, try downloading 3.16 and booting your MPC3000 with it.

Hey Rohan, thanks so much for the post. Afraid im still having no joy. Tried booting the 3k with 3.16 system file and the mpc says 'sorry due to software bug 11h all memory has been lost contact akai' etc..!!

So, the only thing i can think of before i buy 3.50 is to make the floppy on a pc instead of a mac and see if that works..Ill do that and report back but im not too hopeful. Anyway, i love the look of 3.50 so all good..

If you have any more thoughts let me know! Didnt think this was gonna be so complex but hey its an old bit of kit and it doesnt wanna play ball!

Highly likely given the old boot loader code in 3.03.

Sad part now ; Your machine is unlikely to boot any floppy based OS.

Regardless of which platform you intend to create the boot disk on.

Format the floppy disk in your MPC3000 first.

Extract the downloaded file directly to the floppy disk.

Such is the way where ancient/early operating systems were concerned.

This wasn't fixed until much later "AKAI branded" release versions.
