PLEASE HELP! TURNED ON MPC 60 AND IT SPARKED AT THE BACK?

I got an MPC 60 just, its in AMAZING condition, I don't lie when I say it's been used probably once.

I got it home today picked up an adapter because it had a US plug (I'm in the UK). The guy said it would work. I turn the MPC on and it sparked at the back.

Can I only assume I just f**ked up the MPC? I've obviously pushed to much power into it, but all the guy said when he sold it me was a US to UK converter which is what I asked in the electronics store.

I feel like a stupid ****. It sparked and cut off, a little blue spark.

Please offer some advice I am very worried here.

Did he sell you a plug adapter or an actual step-down convertor? There is a big difference! Just changing the plug blades from a UK to a US type doesn't affect the 220V power feeding into it. You have to buy a step-down convertor that reduces the power from 220V to 110V.

No it wasn't a step down.

I am going to buy a stepdown tomorrow, and a fuse set and attempt to replace the fuses with the correct once. I'm not the best with electrics but know the basics.

The spark came from near the power cord. I am just so worried that I have caused some deeper damage that is going to be expensive/impossible to fix. So upsetting when you travel all day to get it, spend a lot on it, look forward to having a play about with it and POOF it's all up in smoke.

I've never used any US stuff and the guy didn't tell me to use a stepdown so I was totally unaware.

Just to be safe, can someone confirm what screws I need to remove to replace the power supply fuses inside? And does anyone have any details about the fuses used in the 60 so I can get them at the store tomorrow.

The fuse at F1 is as black as the ace of spades, but the the other fuses near the PSU and the heatsink are all fine so I can only assume the power didn't get through to do any damage.

I'm off to the shop to get a 125 and 25 fuses just incase the others decide to die at some point. And a power transformer.

The inside of the MPC looks like it just left the shop. Not a spec of dust in sight. I am well chuffed with it. Pics of MPC will be up later.

You needed a 'step down transformer' in UK speak, but you know that now.

I have one for my MPC60, it has two outlets so I can use two US voltage pieces from one

Worth considering if you have to go and buy one.

In the UK, Maplin is the best place to get anything electrical like that.

Im wondering how you got the lead in the powersupply on the wall. How did you get it to fit??? Anyway, hope you get it fixed.
